UW-Platteville's Wil Osmanski earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference pitcher of the week award for his performance against UW-Superior April 9.
Osmanski, a junior from Des Plaines, Ill. (Elk Grove High School), threw a complete-game victory that stretched 11 innings in a 2-1 win over UW-Superior. He held the Yellowjackets scoreless for the first 10 innings, allowing only two runners to reach second during those first 10 innings. Osmanski finished the night with a five-hitter and struck out 10 batters.
He is the third Pioneer to win league honors this season, joining first baseman Steve Bomkamp and second baseman Jason Jacobson.
Osmanski and the Pioneers are home the next two days for doubleheaders. They face St. Norbert today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. in games rescheduled from yesterday. They also play conference games against UW-La Crosse Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Eagles are in third place in the WIAC at 7-3, while the Pioneers are fourth at 5-5. The top four teams make the league tournament.
